Around the age of 15, I began learning about women being fearful about childbirth and especially home births in our culture; this sparked in me a deep interest in midwifery. Despite being a hospital-born baby myself, I couldn't resonate with the prevalent fear that seems to envelop childbirth. With active participation in over 150 births as a student and assistant, my passion for midwifery focuses on providing care that respects each family's unique needs and empowers them to make informed decisions about their care. I reject the idea of women as mere numbers and hope to uphold and honor each woman's unique design for bringing life into the world. Guided by the belief that we can do all things through Christ Who strengthens us, my endeavor is to foster a mindset in my community where childbirth is embraced with confidence, autonomy, and excitement.
Besides midwifery, I also enjoy laboring to cultivate God's amazing creation. The oldest of 5 siblings, I am blessed to share a beautiful farm with my family here in northern MI. Gardening, sustainable farming, and healing one's body through healthy nourishing foods (you are what you eat) is our way of life. Some other things that bring me joy include reading and working with animal fibers—spinning and knitting with the wool from our sheep and bunnies.
I find myself on the brink of an exciting transition. Currently attending the National College of Midwifery, I plan to graduate this spring with my Midwifery Degree and CPM. Post-graduation, I am thrilled to announce that I will be joining Beth and This Moment Midwifery as a second midwife upon securing my state midwifery license.
