Hello! I have been married to my high school sweetheart since 1981 and we have 3 children and 6 grandchildren. I came to midwifery after receiving midwifery care for our last 2 children, training by way of an apprenticeship. I would like to say I chose midwifery but it actually feels more like a calling.
I became certified through the Michigan Midwives Association and then also through the North American Registry of Midwives. In 2019, when it became available, I received my midwifery license. This year (2024) I’ve been a midwife for 30 years! The babies are starting to have babies, too! How surreal!
We attend a little country (non-denominational) church and I serve on the board as the Christian Education Elder. I also run the projection (for the songs) and when I’m at a birth my husband fills in for me. His support, through the years, is essential and endearing.
I feel so very blessed to be a midwife and I love serving my community families. I hope God allows me many more years doing so!
